Help / 3bet-Cbet Explorer

Overview

The point of this tool is to explore a 3bet-cbet bluff line. Eg. with a hand like 54s, not a hand like AA. Let me elaborate on what I mean by that.

  • An opponent opens, it folds around to you, and you 3bet.
  • If someone 4bets you, you fold.
  • We assume that no players behind will ever flat your 3bet. They're either 4betting or folding.
  • When the initial raiser calls and we miss:
    • We're firing a cbet every time. And the cbet will always be the same size.
    • If they call our cbet, we assume that we never end up winning the pot. That we never hit one of our outs, and that we never fire the turn or river as a bluff.
  • When the initial raiser calls and we hit the flop, we assume that we will always win the pot.

Accuracy vs simplicity

Sometimes these assumptions are unrealistic. For example, when we miss, cbet, and get called, sometimes we'll have a flush draw or something and hit one of our outs by the river.

But here's the thing: the more "what ifs" you consider, the more complicated the tool becomes, and the harder it is to reason about and use. I tried to strike a good balance between accuracy and simplicity.
